Having a car is amazing, it gets you from place A to place B. But, when getting a car, it comes with laws to follow, including driving the speed limit, driving on the right side of the road, having legal parts on your car, etc. However, the exhaust system law has been giving out many fines recently. Sergeant Sean Harding, with the London Police, tells us what they are doing to try and get rid of this issue.
“We just completed an In Education and Enforcement campaign and our results are in from that, but what’s going on with the loud vehicles is, we have seen an uptick in loud vehicle complaints from citizens. Our officers have also noticed that as well, that the there’s just a lot of vehicles that have been intentionally modified and made louder.”
The loud exhaust systems affect the residents in London. The London Police are trying to do what they need to do to keep residents safe and happy. It’s important for drivers to respect each other and follow driving laws. Joel Cartwright, London resident, explains how he is affected by the modified exhaust systems.
“It affects me on on a daily because cars often wake me up when I’m sleeping and when I’m studying, I don’t get the peace and quiet that I’d like at home. Oftentimes, we have barbecues and fires at our house, and it’s just distracting hearing these loud cars driving around, every five minutes you hear one”
Although, Joel has seen a decline since the police have been more strict on it.
“I have noticed that a there has been a decline in loud exhaust in the area. It’s nice to know that they’re trying to crack down on the loud exhaust to to help the community stay quiet and safe.”
