With the COVID-19 pandemic still being present, events such as MuslimFest have had to make adjustments.
In a normal year, MuslimFest is not a drive-in event. MuslimFest Event Director Tariq Syed talked about how the festival usually goes, and the types of entertainment it has to offer.
“MuslimFest celebrates the best of Muslim art, culture, and entertainment. We’ve been doing the event for almost over 17 years, starting in Mississauga. It’s an award-winning festival that brings local and international artists on to a single platform over a 3-day weekend. The event is partially funded by the 3 levels of government.”
As MuslimFest is switching to a drive-in operation to adhere to COVID-19 guidelines, Event Director Tariq Syed spoke about the safety protocols being set in place for MuslimFest, as well as the rules for this weekend’s event in London.
“Cars will be parked with physical distancing in mind; which means no cars will be parked directly beside each other. There will be a distance of about 6 feet between each car. Everybody has to sit in their cars. They can not get out of their car for anything… there will be sanitization stations available for the performers on stage.”
With performances taking place on the stage, questions rose about how the attendees will be able to listen to the artists, musicians, comedians, and more. Syed talked about that as well, saying they’ve got the audio situation handled already.
“The audio system will work as the audio will be transmitted through FM radio so they can still sit in the car and hear the entire show from within their car.”
After already having a successful event during the COVID-19 pandemic, it seems as though Syed and the MuslimFest have all the bases covered; and they’ll be ready to welcome all Londoners this weekend.
The event is very inclusive to all, as Syed added:
“This event is open for everyone. This is not just a Muslim exclusive event, and even though it’s called MuslimFest, the event is absolutely open to everyone from all backgrounds.”
If you’re looking for something fun to do this weekend in London, MuslimFest is Sunday October 25th, on 951 Pond Mills Rd. starting at 1:00 PM.
