London Police say a London man is charged in relation to extensive property damage to several areas of downtown Wednesday evening.
On Wednesday, at around 9:30, Police say an owner of an auto shop on York Street, viewed survivance footage after an alarm went off in the building. The footage showed a male adult throwing a rock at a window shortly after 9:15.
Shortly afterwards, another nearby owner of a storage facility received a notification that an alarm was triggered. She went to the business to observe and noticed her front window to be broken. Police say video survivance shows that an adult male threw a rock at the window shortly after 9:15.
Police say the adult male was observed by a citizen in front of a clinic on Horton Street. The suspect then was observed to have thrown an unknown object at the front door of the clinic, causing damage.
At around 10 p.m, police say that an officer off-duty was leaving LPS headquarters when he observed an unknown male in the parking lot beside the building. The officer heard a loud noise, and a vehicle alarm began to sound, and the male began to walk out of the lot. The officer observed that the sunroof in a vehicle where the male was by had been smashed.
Other officers, including a canine officer and his police services dog, attended the area, and as the suspect fled on foot, police were able to locate the man in the area of Maitland and York streets.
38-year-old Jamie Kernohan of London is charged with four counts of mischief under $5000
He is expected to appear in a London Court today.
