Most players in junior hockey only have to move towns or cities. Most players don’t have the journey that Dylan Myskiw had to get to the Ontario Hockey League. Dylan Myskiw made the journey to the Ontario Hockey league a couple of weekends ago when he was put on waivers by the Edmonton Oil Kings of the Western Hockey League. Myskiw would then be claimed by a bitter rival of the London Knights the Sarnia Sting. Sarnia would then trade him to the Knights for goalie Jordan Kooy.
Myskiw said the team has made it easy for him to transition to a new league and new locker room. “Yeah i’m starting to find my way here and get settled in here and you know it’s just about feeling good and the guys are playing good in front of me so it’s great to see because it leads to everyone playing good.” Said Myskiw about the team in front of him in his first two starts.
Sometimes when trading for a player of Myskiw’s caliber a team would put some heavy expectations on that players shoulder but that was not the case in London. ” Yeah it’s been good the coaching staff and the whole staff has been amazing so far and i’m here to play for the team day in and day out and do my job which is stopping the puck.” Said Myskiw about how helpful the coaching staff has been on his transition to a new league and province.
Friday night against the North Bay Battalion was Dylan Myskiw’s first start for the home fans in London and he is very grateful for the support the gave him on Friday. ” Yeah it was great i mean coming in here every night the fans are great it’s unbelievable here. It’s definitely something i’ll remember for the rest of my career.” Myskiw had made one start and one relief appearance before the start on Friday and had a undefeated record with two wins.
The Knights head to Owen Sound on Saturday night with a chance at top spot in the western conference up for grabs.
