The farming industry proves itself crucial to the public from its produce. Although farms may not be growing in terms of quantity, growth with new technology has proven its worth. Many farmers including Tony Delaware from Performance Dairy Centre, believe it can only help with business.
“It’s a management tool, you got to keep track of the bigger herds so you can keep your breeding at the right time, same as milk production. Basically larger farms need to be able to control things because you can’t do it all in your head.”
Farmers everywhere have continued to grow when it comes to the new technology. Dairy farms seem to be the outfits that are seeing the most improvements by these advancements. Performance Dairy Centre see this everyday.
“It seems to lean towards more automation, more herd management, heat detection, all automation tracking devices, and robotic milking.”
New technology is not only being used by pastoral fields, many crop farmers have taken advantage of what is new. When it comes to seeding and fertilizing, there are easier and quicker ways to apply to the fields. Helicopters have made farmers applications mush simpler.
“Aerial application offers an alternative, a very fees-able alternative in most cases where we can spread seed or fertilizer or apply crop protection from the air.”
Dan Helpt from Zimmer Air Services strongly believes in aerial application. He sees many benefits with it.
“Any time you drive a wheeled machine of any kind through a field, you are dealing with ground compaction, crop damage, etc. and thats amplified when theres really wet seasons or in terrain.”
Farmers come across new advantages to help them succeed in the agricultural business. Although there are farmers sticking to the old ways, the future of farming is fast approaching because of all the updated equipment.
