Child-care costs in Canada have become higher every year.
A new study indicates child-care fees rose faster than inflation in many Canadian cities.
The Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives found in most of the country, the cost hovers at around $1,000 per child and per month.
In London, a research shows the average is $270.00 per child (Infant room – 6 to 18 months), and it was paid weekly.
Ronaldo Terra is the dad of a three-year-old girl. He understands the costs are compatible with the service provided by a day care.
“In my case, I agree with the price.”
He explains that his daughter spends the day in a place that he trust the most. The day care is responsible to supply all her necessities and because of that, it is a fair price.
“They stay the whole day with my kid, and are educating her. So, her behavior changes because of the care that she has been receiving. In this case, they also have balanced and nutritional meals.”
The 50th annual survey of child care fees has also shown that cities such as Quebec had the lowest fees for full-time.
At the same time, day care costs in Toronto and the surrounding areas have the highest price for children under 18 months. The average price is $1,685 and $1,150 monthly for older preschoolers.
Ontario parents: read it and weep! We had the highest child care fees in Canada for the 5th year in a row. While other provinces are making progress by setting fees, we're stuck in the past. #cdnchildcare pic.twitter.com/IueY7ylkIa
