Ontario’s Special Investigations Unit is now involved after a London Police Officer was assaulted during an arrest of a 52-year old woman.
The officer responded to a call to check on the welfare of the woman at a residence on Topping Lane last night. The officer alleged they were assaulted on the scene while trying to make the arrest. The woman was transported to hospital for treatment and it was later found that she had an injury.
As a result of the interaction, the 52-year-old woman has been charged with one count of resisting arrest, and one count of assaulting a peace officer.
The officer did not sustain any injuries,
Due to the woman being injured, the Special Investigations Unit have been notified to initiate an investigation into the interaction.
