Giving Londoners hope during the holiday season. The Salvation Army is back ringing in Christmas cheer for monetary donations around London. Every family deserves a special Christmas and that’s why the Salvation Army’s Christmas Kettle Campaign continues to thrive across the country. Spokesperson for London’s Salvation Army, Shannon Wise says they raised over 5 hundred and fifty thousand dollars last year.

“We’re confident that Londoners are going to show up to donate and volunteer their time like they have every year. I think that’s the one great thing about this community, among others. Londoners always show up and we support each other. When somebody’s down and out we really give them a hand up.”
All donations stay local and go towards making Christmas Hampers, giving toys and holiday dinners for over 52 hundred London families. Contributions also provide support for other programming and services throughout the year. A small donation can make a world of difference. Wise notes that poverty is very much alive in London and that every family deserves a Christmas.
“Even just a two or three hour shift, those few hours can really help several families in London. It’s a great opportunity to have some fun and make it a part of your traditions, so you can help other people carry on their Christmas traditions too.”

Kettles can be found in stores like Walmart or at different malls across the city.
The Christmas Kettle Campaign has been around for 128 years with 400 communities across the country participating.

Distribution of Christmas hampers takes place December 13th and 14th and again on the 17th-19th at the Western Fair Agriplex.
