Thousands of Londoners gathered in Victoria Park Friday night for the annual ‘Lighting of the Lights’.
The cool temperatures brought a large crowd to the park despite the light rain. More than 75-thousand lights were lit, decorating the tree’s in the park.
There was also a new festive display at Victoria Park this year. “Santa’s House” was set up in the park with children getting their pictures taken with the jolly man himself. Santa will be in Victoria Park from November 27 to December 23 from 1-4pm and 6-9pm. Donations are going towards the Teresina Larizza Charity which provides help to children facing health challenges.
Some children were even dressed up as Santa themselves and were handing out candy-cane’s to the public. They said that their favourite thing about Christmas was the giving.
The City Hall Promenade Deck is also officially open for viewing. The public can view the lights from 7 to 11pm nightly except for December 8,21,25,26, and 31.
The lights will be staying lit until December 30 from 5:30 to 11pm and on New Years Eve, the lights will stay on for Londoner’s to ring in the new year.
