The London Knights released a statement about the incident.
“The team takes this matter very seriously and are in the process of gathering all relevant information,” said a Knights official in the statement.
“We have been in contact with the OHL and will handle this in accordance with both league and team conduct policies. Disciplinary action will be determined by the OHL.”
XFM news has reached out to the Ontario Hockey League and the Canadian Hockey League for comment but have yet to receive a response.
The statement added “We understand that Cam takes this matter very seriously and has assured us that he will fully cooperate with the court process. Cam understands the responsibility that comes with being a member of this organization and a representative of our community.”
“We will provide further updates as appropriate and appreciate the understanding of our fans and community.”
Allen was born in Toronto and started his junior hockey career with the Guelph Storm but was traded to the London Knights earlier this season. He was drafted in the 5th round of the 2023 NHL draft by the Washington Capitals.
Although Allen has not made his NHL debut with the Capitals, they still own his rights. A representative with the Capitals gave the following statement to XFM news: “We are aware of the serious and concerning incident from London, Ontario regarding our prospect Cam Allen. We are currently gathering additional information and will refrain from making further comments, as this is a legal matter.”
London Police say Allen was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in a London courtroom on March 6th, 2025.
