Pillar Nonprofit Network is an organization that has dedicated itself to helping small nonprofit companies achieve their goals of helping the community. Their outreach spans London and the Southwestern Ontario area, providing the nonprofit sector with access to the tools and support it needs. Pillar recently received $25,000 from Canada Life to help kick-start the program.
Melanie Riley, the vice president of resource development and member services at Pillar Nonprofit Network, said, “Canada Life’s generous $25,000 sponsorship was the catalyst for making the community membership program a reality. Their support reflects a shared commitment to strengthening the nonprofit sector and fostering equity in our communities.” when asked about the recent contribution from Canada Life.
When asked how this program is designed to assist small non-profit companies she said “I mean equity and capacity building are at the heart of this program. So by offering complementary membership notes, we are removing that financial barrier that often excludes smaller organizations”
Carl Cadogan is the chair of an organization that used to be called the London Black History Coordinating Committee and is now going by the name of the London Black Heritage Council. The organization has been around for 23 years and was created to give Londoners a better sense of the history of the black community in London dating back a couple of hundred years. The organization was started with a focus on Black History Month but now operates year-round. This is one of many organizations supported by the Pillars Program.
When asked about how Pillars helps a nonprofit organization like his Carl said “To have an organization like Pillar that doesn’t cost you because you’re small organization is really great because you can benefit from all the support you get through pillar we meet there weekly”
He goes on to say “It is really great for small organizations and large organizations that can afford, you know, membership fees, but small organizations that that that really have little or no budget. Then you know it’s very helpful to have. A membership that is, that is free.”
The Pillar Nonprofit Network plans to continue to grow their amount of support for small grassroots organizations in London.
