The Eras tour has been more than just a concert from the very start, it’s a much bigger experience than just the performance itself. There’s of course the music, but then there’s the lights, the dancing, the fan traditions, and the outfits!
Throughout the tour, fans have dressed up as funny Taylor jokes, made reference to song lyrics, mimicked some of the outfits Taylor herself has worn, or dressed in their favourite Era.
So, of course, I put a lot of thought into my own outfit when making this decision, here are some things I considered that helped me finalize my outfit!
Favourite Era
Taylor has 11 albums, each representing an era (not including re-records), most fans pick their favourite era and centre their outfit around that. For example, if your favourite era is midnights, you might wear a very blue sparkly outfit or make reference to song lyrics from that album through your outfit. A problem I ran into is that I couldn’t exactly pick one era, I love them all for different reasons. So, I decided to mesh together some things from Taylor’s discography that meant a lot to me.
The song “The Man” is about female empowerment, and a big tribute to that song is a sparkly blazer; this is a song that felt important to me and something I wanted to include in my outfit.
The album Lover is generally about finding love and light after going through something dark. That album helped me personally through a really tough time in my life, and I have quite a few favourites on that album, so I decided to include a pink dress in honour of Lover (I also just have a soft spot for the colour pink!)
For footwear, I decided to wear some cowboy boots to honour Taylors earlier country albums, where I first found a love for her music.
Altogether, I managed to find representation for the things that are important to me from certain eras.
Comfort & Atmosphere
A big problem I ran into when brainstorming my outfit was that for most of the tour, Taylor was performing in summer months or places that are warm year-round at open-roof stadiums. So outfits with skirts and dresses weren’t an issue. However, it is November in Canada!
Thankfully the Rogers Center announced the roof of the Rogers Center will remain closed for the concerts, and fans who attended the first three nights reported it being extremely warm in the stadium. Waiting outside may get a little chilly, but that’s a risk I’m willing to take.
Accessories, Hair, & Makeup
Now this is the part I haven’t exactly given too much thought to yet. I’ve seen some really creative hair and makeup looks for this tour. All I’ve decided is that I want to put some jewels in my hair like I’ve seen some people do. I’m not too sure I want to do anything exciting for makeup, other than putting the classic glittery 13 on my hand, however, I will keep you updated!
stay tuned this week as we get ready together for closing weekend. For all things Taylor, check out the rest of the “Talking Taylor” series right here on 106.9 The X.
