The trial for five players from the Canadian 2018 world junior hockey team charged with sexual assault will begin April 22nd, 2025.
It will take place in London, Ontario, and is expected to take eight weeks. It will begin immediately after a jury is selected.
The case had been in pre-trial hearings throughout the summer.
Former NHL players Dillon Dube, Carter Hart, Cal Foote, and Alex Formenton are each charged with one count of sexual assault. Michael McLeod has been charged with two counts of sexual assault, one of those charges relating to aiding someone else in the offence.

In May 2022, a report disclosed that Hockey Canada had reached a settlement in a civil lawsuit with a woman in London. The woman accused eight men, including members of the 2018 men’s world junior hockey team, of sexually assaulting her after an event celebrating the team in June 2018.
The London Police Service launched an investigation into the matter in the summer of 2018, which was closed in February 2019 due to insufficient evidence to pursue charges. Amid growing criticism of Hockey Canada’s response, the London police reopened their investigation in July 2022.
Pre-trial motions are scheduled to continue Nov. 25th in London.
