Two people have been charged with operation while impaired, which is a term the police use when the person charged wasn’t caught driving but they were caught in their car. The first traffic stop happened around 9:30 early in the morning Tuesday the 17th in St. Thomas. The police received a call about someone reporting a potential drunk driver spotted swerving out of their lane and driving over over the curb. The police found the vehicle and stopped it in traffic finding that the 37 year old driver was impaired by alcohol, he was released with future court date scheduled and his license suspended for 90 days.
The second impaired driver was stopped several hours later, around 2 am in Alymer. A 62 year old resident was witnessed by police losing control of their vehicle after entering a roundabout, after stopping the car, police found that the driver was impaired by alcohol and drugs and driving with no license. Both impaired drivers are schedule to appear in court at a later date.
