Today may be the last day to stock up on items from the LCBO before a potential strike begins tomorrow, July 5 at 12:01 a.m..
If the strike does take place all LCBO retail stores will close for 14 days. After that period, they will begin reopening on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday with limited hours.
“LCBO’s focus remains on achieving a deal that is fair to bargaining unit employees and helps the LCBO continue to operate effectively and efficiently for Ontario in a new marketplace,” says a media release from the LCBO.
In preparation for the strike, the retail stores have extended their hours, with all stores opening at 9:30 a.m. and some stores closing at 10 p.m..
“Ontario Public Service Employees Union has clearly signalled its intent to strike. The LCBO has an obligation to be ready for any potential strike action and remains committed to providing the best service we can during this time,” says a general statement by LCBO Negotiations.
On the occasion of a strike, the LCBO’s online ordering will still be available, and they will continue their distribution services.
