Homecoming was not the only event Western University was celebrating this weekend. Alumni, students and teachers were also remembering the last 50 years at Delaware Hall, as they celebrated it’s anniversary. Delaware hosted a reception for past Deli students as they had the opportunity to see the recent renovations and take a peak at their old living accommodations.
Susan Grinrod, the associate Vice President of Housing and Ancillary Services at Western says that they decided to have this event when they shut Delaware down for a year during renovations and noticed how much interest there was in the residence. She says, “we just thought that since we had a lot of interest from people, wondering when it was it going to reopen and if it was going to reopen, that it would be a good time to invite some of the old Deli alumni back to see what we’ve done with the renovation and to reconnect them with their residence.”
The celebrating and reconnecting with former classmates is still taking place on social media. Western University created a Facebook album full of old Delaware Hall photographs which show past memories celebrated at this residence as well as how much the residence has changed. Alumni can even submit their own photos to the album by visiting the alumni website.
