NBA player and Londoner Shaedon Sharpe is launching his very own basketball program right here in the city of London
offering youth in London the opportunity to participate in free, weekly basketball sessions.
City Hall announced on January 10th stating some details about his weekly sessions. it will be held every Friday for ages 10-17 years old from 6:30 to 8:30 pm, with the grand opening being January 19th at Carling Heights Optimist Community Centre, at 656 Elizabeth Street.
Sharpe’s longtime youth coach and former high school basketball coach Tony Marcotullio says “Shadeon had coaches who did it For the love of the game and they gave back and that’s what he has decided to do, which is a great idea is to open a gym for kids to you know, have a focus and reach dreams. And I know that Shadeon will turn that thing into something special for kids.”
Marcotullio also mentions that ” I always knew from when he was a kid that he would grow up to be special and as he got older I always knew he would one day be playing in the NBA.”
Shaedon Sharpe himself also says that ” he hopes he can inspire the next generation of players to come out of London”
The city would like to remind people that their is limited spots available, and that registration is mandatory before attending these sessions.
