A London man has been arrested following a sexual interference investigation by London Police.
Officers say the report was made on Nov. 21, with the arrest being made just 2 days later on Nov. 23.
Constable Matthew Dawson with London Police talks about how the London Police Service goes about handling cases like this.
“There’s no boilerplate template, no investigation is exactly the same and no two are alike,” says Dawson.
“All of our investigators, whether they’re uniformed members or from different areas of the service such as the Sexual Assault and Child Abuse section, everything is looked at in each case in all of its totality.”
The investigation was conducted following teenage victim
s coming forward with information dating back over 2 years.
They say that in July of 2021, one of the teenage girls met a man in the area of Wonderland and Sarnia road, with her and the suspect supposedly striking up a friendship.
The girl and another female friend visited the man daily, with police saying the man provided the girls food and drugs on a regular basis.
Between July and November, 2023, the man showed the girls explicit videos and images on his cellular phone. On one occasion, the man is said to have exposed himself to one of the girls, with one of them being touched inappropriately by the suspect.
A report was then made on Nov. 21, with London Police making the arrest on Nov. 23.
“That is just a result of that information being brought to us going from the uniformed side of the house to the sexual assault and child abuse section, with the investigators getting that information and ensuring that we get to it in a timely response,” says Dawson.
The suspect is facing now facing multiple charges including:
-Sexual assault on a person under 16 years of age;
-Sexual interference with a person under 16 years of age;
-Two (2) counts of make available sexually explicit material to person under or believed to be under 16 years of age; and
-Indecent exposure to a person under 16 years of age.
The accused remains in custody and is scheduled to re appear in London court on November 28.
Investigators believe that there may be additional victims and are appealing to members of the public to contact them if they have any information in relation to this investigation, or if they had similar dealings with the accused.
