This is the time of year when many radio shows are taking some vacation. Here at Routes & Branches & Beyond, I get a generous three weeks off, so this show is a re-run… no… what do the big stations call it? This is a reprise – it’s a show from about this time of the summer, 4 years ago. I’ll be back with regular programming around Labour Day. Enjoy!
This time out “Routes & Branches & Beyond” has the usual mix of outlaw folk, fairy dances, bagpipe-driven pub songs, wide-open bluegrass, auction barn nostalgia, flea market love, sacred harps, carnival lights, country kids and a downpour of heavenly partiness. All with classic titles like “Ooh Wah Baby” and “Hold my false teeth (and I’ll show you how to dance).” From bands such as Aly Bain, Georgian Bay, Phil Cooper & Margaret Nelson, The Paperboys, Ben Sures, Mudmen, Camay Doucet, Word of Mouth Chorus, The Dirty River Boys, The Vaudvillian, Wayne Muggridge, Ceili Rain, and Ricky Skaggs. Accept no substitutes, and join us.
