Airport’s officials are confirming the pile up. They are saying the main cause is the increased traffic during holidays. According to official press release, the bags are secured and will be sent to destinations shortly.
However, it is not as clear for passengers, who need to live for an undefined period of time without any clothes, makeup or travel essentials.
“It never happened before. Usually I would get my luggage in one day,” explains Lee Morlando, an entrepreneur and an experienced traveler from Toronto.
Unexpected unpleasant experiences during traveling are not uncommon, but this time the luggage wouldn’t come until almost the last day.
We spent two hours in line to check in our bags and ended up last passengers to board,
says Morlando
“I’ve arrived to the airport three and a half hours before the flight. I was frustrated because we were waiting in a kilometer long line, that almost made us miss our flight to check our luggage that almost never arrived,” complains the other passenger Leah Antonowicz.
She was going on a Christmas vacation and had a stressful time going through all security lines.
“The airline said the checked bags are arriving on the following day, but our bags didn’t arrive until five days later,” says Antonowicz.
Antonowicz was traveling with the family and couldn’t fit all this essentials in carry on. This time, however, it would save her time and energy.
“I had to wash my clothes in a sink and continuously wear the same outfit. I also burnt because the resort didn’t sell my hypoallergenic sunscreen,” says Antonowicz.
“We had to buy new clothes, spend extra money and they charged us extra for overload,” says Morlando.
Him and other travelers from the same flight filed a complaint asking for refund. The airport held their luggage for more than three days.
“The airport just doesn’t have enough staff. They should be prepared for the passengers flow. How could the best airport in Canada get to that level. Nothing like this happened in 34 years that I’ve been actively traveling,” says Morlando.
The video posted and shared by some people in one of the social media expresses their indignation about the accident.
