This weekend marks the end of London’s very own ‘Holly Jolly Market’, a Christmas market in Covent Garden. The market ran for three weeks and was open from Thursday to Sunday.
The market hosted over 30 vendors and incorporated the Rotary Square with outdoor programming. There were food and drink stalls, entertainment for kids, live music and more. On the Square, there was also a huge Christmas tree, and kids could go get their picture taken with Santa Claus.
It’s the first time the Covent Garden Christmas market has taken on this scale, and that opened a lot of doors for the organisation. “We were able to have different programming outside as well. We’ve been very impressed with the turnout and how everyone’s enjoying it,” says Covent Garden Market CEO Amy Shackleton.
The hope of bringing more people downtown for the holidays inspired the outside portion of the Holly Jolly Market, and it seems to have worked well.
The Covent Garden Market team is eager to keep adding to the Holly Jolly Market every year. They want to expand and build on what they’ve created. Especially the live music and choirs seemed to be a big hit!
