The Fanshawe Falcons men’s baseball team won back to back games Wednesday night against the Lambton Lions at Pulham Park.
The first game was a close affair with a final score of 6-4. Fanshawe was out to a 2-0 lead after two innings, but the Lions answered with three runs in the third inning. Entering the top of the fourth Lambton held a 3-2 lead, but Fanshawe rallied and maintained control the rest of the way outscoring Lambton 4-1 over the final three innings. With Fanshawe batting second, the game ended in the top of the seventh inning after Lambton received their third out.
Second base Luke Sherwin led the way with two hits, and two runs in three at bats. Tommie Norrie and Samuel Clements were the pitchers for the Falcons in game one.
Game two was all Falcons from the get go with a final score of 11-0. Fanshawe started even faster in game two coming out to 2-0 lead after the first inning. The game slowed down briefly in the form of a scoreless second inning before Fanshawe exploded for seven runs in the third inning. Fanshawe followed with a 2-0 fourth inning, before holding Lambton to no runs in the top of the fifth inning ending the game.
In OCAA baseball there is a 10-0 lead mercy rule after five inning resulting in the early ending of Wednesday night’s second game.
Designated hitter Carter Stratton led the way for the Falcons in game two with two runs, two runners batted in, and three hits in three at bats. Caleb Burleigh and Aidan Whitehead were the pitchers for the Falcons in game two.
The Falcons are back in action Saturday, September 17th for two games against the Durham Lords with opening pitches at 1:00 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. at Aldridge Field.
