The London Knights have flipped the script. Last week, they were in the middle of a disastrous losing streak. The team was performing poorly on the defensive end, and they lost Goalie Brett Brochu to injury. However, this week, the story has completely changed as the Knights are firing on all cylinders.
The Knights have won two in a row, with their most recent win against Saginaw. Despite the victory, some holes in London’s game could be patched up. The defensive side of the Knights could have performed better. They allowed five goals in a game against one of the lowest-ranked teams in the OHL. That is something that cannot happen. Luckily, the offensive side was on fire with six goals scored. Moving forward, all defensemen will need to play their best as we inch closer to an eventual playoff run for the Knights.
The Knights will have an opportunity tonight to show their fans they can lock teams down. They play the Guelph Storm, who are coming off a close win against Erie. The Storm have stellar offensive players, so they should be a good test for the Knights’ defensemen. Guelph Storm Forward Sasha Patsujov has been the Storm’s top scorer having 60 points in 50 games. The Anaheim Ducks prospect is a problem whenever he is on the ice. Keeping him locked down will be imperative to beating Guelph and extending the streak.
If the Knights can beat the Storm, they will then play Saginaw again on Friday with a chance at a four-game win streak. This could set the Knights up to take over first place in the OHL. The game tonight gets started at 7:00 pm and takes place at the Sleeman Centre in Guelph, ON.
