You may have noticed something unusual lately with a Canada Post truck.
There are 35 Canada Post trucks with a unique look to them around Canada. This design was created by Andrew Lewis, a local artist in London, Ontario.
Lewis is a Canadian art director-designer for corporate identities, branding, packaging, poster art and multi-media applications. He has many well known clients, such as the Royal Canadian Mint, Scotiabank, Perrier, Starbucks Coffee, Converse, and VISA.
Lewis designs stamps for Canada Post, he has worked on the Community Foundation stamps and a Christmas collection.
Originally, this design was going to be for a stamp to lift peoples spirits during the pandemic.
“They asked me to make a stamp for the pandemic, but throughout the process, I came up with the idea of painting a van, as a joke. A month later they decided yes, lets do it.” Said Andrew Lewis.
Even though it was mentioned as a joke, the reason Lewis wanted to do this was because the pandemic was bringing everyone’s spirits down.
“When people see it, it will make them happy”
This truck was designed with true intentions to make Canadians feel positive during these difficult times.
However, the meaning of the artwork itself is a way to thank Canada Post Workers for everything they have done throughout the pandemic.
