Even here in London, St. Patrick’s Day is heavily celebrated, especially in local Irish pubs. The lively atmosphere and vibrant displays of Irish pride are a staple of the festivities, and this year was no different. Molly Blooms, an Irish pub located on Richmond Street in downtown London, had a very patriotic Irish-filled weekend according to one of the bartenders working during the festivities.
“ All weekend it’s been amazing. All of London turned out this weekend. Everybody’s been great. Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and then now Monday being St. Patrick’s Day, it’s turned out great. Everybody’s been amazing. Everybody’s literally been out just to have a good time.”
The Bartender further elaborated on how business flourished over the weekend and continued into Monday evening.
“ We were lined up at 8:30 p.m. every night where everybody was out just to enjoy the celebrations.”
Molly Bloom’s had live music playing throughout the entire weekend. Wearing green and singing songs about drinking and not much else, the Irish pub music lifted spirits and had many people on their feet singing along.
Bar patrons at Molly Blooms were seen wearing bright green colors, leprechaun hats, and green bead necklaces to show their love for Irish culture. The pub was bustling with energy, and the festive mood was contagious. The celebration brought many different Londoners together to participate in the celebrations.
“Everybody’s Irish today, and everybodys happy and everybodys together ” one bar patron said. When asked what made St. Patrick’s day so special, they said “Because everybody is everybody’s best friend and everybody’s a little bit Irish.”
Every year, Londoners celebrate St. Patrick’s Day, whether it’s at street parties, Irish pubs, or at home with friends and family. The streets of the city are painted in shades of green as revelers take part in parades, enjoy Irish music, and indulge in traditional food and drink.
As the day unfolds with festivities and Irish-themed events, it’s clear that London’s love for St. Patrick’s Day is just as strong as ever. Whether you’re Irish by blood or Irish at heart, there’s no denying that the celebrations bring a touch of Irish magic to the city every year.
