London Knights defenceman Cam Allen
A London Knights defenceman was arrested early Saturday morning and charged with impaired driving after London police say officers found a running, unoccupied vehicle that appeared to be involved in a crash.
Police say on February 8th, just after 3 a.m., a person called 911 to report a single-vehicle crash near the intersection of Colonel Talbot Road and Clayton Walk.
According to a London Police news release, police were advised that blood had been located on the driver’s side door leading away from the vehicle.
Police arrived at the scene and found the vehicle, but the suspected driver was located and arrested at a nearby address. It is unknown how many people were in the vehicle at the time, but Police say one passenger was transported to hospital with minor injuries.
20-year-old Cameron Allen is charged with impaired driving, impaired operations exceeding legal blood alcohol levels, failure to remain at the scene of an accident, failure to report an accident, and having a blood alcohol concentration above zero as a novice driver.
“The team takes this matter very seriously and are in the process of gathering all relevant information” says General Manager of the Knights Mark Hunter in a statement on the teams website.
“We have been in contact with the OHL and will handle this in accordance with both league and team conduct policies. Disciplinary action will be determined by the OHL” said a Knights official in a statement on their website.”
The statement also added “We understand that Cam takes this matter very seriously and has assured us that he will fully cooperate with the court process.”
Allen is expected to appear in a London courtroom on March 6, 2025 in relation to the charges.
