Starting January 13th, the intersection of Waterloo Street and Dundas Street will be closed for 2 months. The road closure is to facilitate utility work. The closure will last until March 14th of 2025.
However, commuters aren’t the only ones affected by the intersection closure. One Local pizzeria on the corner of Waterloo and Dundas will be affected most. A worker at the small business of Pizza Round’s, Masoud expressed how the road closure could impact them.
“I don’t think it’s going to affect us in a positive way. Yeah, it’s going to be a hassle for the neighborhood. You know it’s going to be going on for two months, so we’re not very happy about it, but it is what it is. You know, there’s no other way around,” said Masoud.
Cars could be seen going around the construction and going past the road closure signs, completely ignoring all the warnings. Most commuters were unaware that the intersection was closed and had to make a U-turn. The businesses around were also unaware of the upcoming closure until the traffic cones were put up.
“We haven’t been told why it’s been closed. We just saw the signs that said, it’s going to be closed. The only warning we had was the signs that were put out on the streets,” said Masoud.
