After a decently warm November, Mother Nature wasted no time catching up. Londoners saw a thick blanket covering the city Monday morning and Environment Canada reports another 30cm of snow is on the way over Monday night into Tuesday.
The blast of snow left planes grounded, buses cancelled, and establishments closed. OPP West region advised the public in a Twitter post to “stay home if you can and only travel if you absolutely need to.”
The surge of snow left many scrambling for last-minute shovels, salt and gear.
“We went to Canadian Tire for a shovel, and I saw three other people walk out with shovels before we even reached the door.” Shared London resident Tianna Mckelvey.
The roads had residents sliding around and stuck in multiple spots across town, and while this is an absolute nightmare, it’s also one of those things that brings people together like no other.
“We were shovelling the driveway when someone got stuck on our street, us, along with a bunch of other neighbours, rushed over to help dig the older lady out. It was the first time I’d seen some of my neighbours, and yet six of us gathered there to push and dig this car out.” Shared Mckelvey.
At that moment one of the neighbours shared “What good are if we don’t help each other out.”
So, while the snow may be a pain, it is also a reminder that Londoners can always rely on one another and turn a snow-covered street into a winter wonderland.
