Easton Cowan has done the unthinkable.
With a powerplay goal early in the first period on Friday, Nov. 15th, Cowan extended his point streak to a historic 50 straight games.
“Streak or not, it feels good to score a goal. It felt good to get the team on the board and I felt like we built off that a lot,” says Cowan.
The Toronto Maple Leafs draft pick became the first CHL player to accomplish the feat since Alex Radulov in 2005-2006 with the Quebec Ramparts.
During the past couple of seasons, Cowan has earned a spot in the Toronto Maple Leafs training camp in September before the NHL season begins.
This has allowed Cowan to learn from some NHL veterans.
“They taught me a lot. They’ve been super good to me,” says Cowan. “They all know what it’s like being a young guy coming into training camp.”
There’s another important part to being a young player learning how to play in Toronto.
“I feel like Toronto media helps me out a lot. It’s pretty crazy there sometimes,” says Cowan.
“I’ve matured a lot and been able to handle it. It’s helped me out a lot with the streak.”

Cowan is now within reach of the OHL record of 55 games held by former Leafs captain Doug Gilmour.
“He’s a Leafs legend, so it’s pretty cool,” says Cowan when asked about what it feels like to chase the record.
Cowan’s point streak started nearly one year ago to the day on Nov. 25th, 2023.
Ironically enough, the Leafs prospect will have a chance to tie Gilmour’s record on Nov. 24th, 364 days after the streak began.
