As we approach the end of October, we tend to start thinking about the next holiday after Halloween.
“Christmas is a time, with lots of gift giving and good stuff going around.” says Goodwill Store Manager for the Oxford location Jason Lavery.
Many donation centers like Goodwill, are hoping that people will take time before the holiday season kicks in, to try and help families out that might not be able to pay for new toys.
“It’s unfortunate to have young children not be able to enjoy that experience because we all have those moments as kids getting gifts from their parents, so we want to see every kid have that experience since some kids don’t get to have that opportunity so i think it’s very important.”
Lavery went on to discuss what their store’s plans are now to encourage people to donate.
“So right now we have a brochure that we’re giving out to every donor where they scan a QR code and they rate their experience at their donation center, answer some questions saying what was good and what wasn’t good. Doing that enters them into a contest to win a gift card for $750.”
“This guides people to let us know what we’re doing right or wrong so that way we can improve the experience for our donors as well.”
He even goes on to say how their store and the company simply wouldn’t exist without their donors, as well as why Goodwill is vital to the London community.
“Just being able to give back, right? Our whole company is based on donors giving us our donations so without that, we don’t really have goodwill. It’s the lifeline of our company.”
“Without our donors, we have no customers. Without customers, we don’t have goodwill. Without goodwill, we can’t do the things we do for the community.”
“So every donor is vital and important to our success. And I think it’s amazing that people are willing to take time out of their day to visit the store and give us their donations.”
Goodwill has many locations throughout London, that are open 7 days a week and are always accepting donations from everyone and anyone.
