Western University recently held its yearly Student Council Day, an entertaining occasion designed to help the start of incoming students into campus life by introducing them to the various resources and possibilities at their disposal. The event focused on helping students get settled into university by showing them how to make the most of their time at Western.
The event took place on Concrete Beach and included engaging displays, informative discussions, and interactive sessions for students to discover various aspects of campus life. Wellness was a major focus, with exhibits offering mental health support, fitness programs, and social connections.
“This is an event we run every year at the beginning of the school year,” said one of the event organizers. “The goal is to help students become aware of all the services on campus. We have all of our portfolios spread out, so students can easily discover what’s available to them.”
Student Council Day was eye-opening for many students. “This event really helped me understand what’s available on campus,” shared one student. “I had no idea there were so many cool clubs. I’m part of Radio Western, and as a media student, it’s a great way for me to learn copywriting, public speaking, and organizing different types of entertainment. Plus, it’s fun!”
The event additionally recognized essential academic resources, with representatives offering information on tutoring, study clubs, and academic advising to help students stay on track. Wellness was a major focus, with exhibits offering mental health support, fitness programs, and social connections.Organizers hope that providing a comfortable environment for students to explore these resources will make them feel more connected and confident as they begin their university journey.
