As summer comes to a close, London is preparing to host several events. One of them is Doors Open London, which has taken place every September since 2001. The event aims to provide Londoners, tourists, and newcomers with free access to museums and community businesses, allowing them to learn more about the Forest City and explore its heritage sites.
For the 2024 edition, the Simple Reflections collective, which features various artists, dancers, and musicians, is connecting with Museum London and the City of London to participate this Sunday. “For the first time, we’re going to have the Heritage of the Hispanic Speaking Countries event on September 22 from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Museum of London,” says Darío Novoa, co-founder of the collective.
“It’s a free event; everybody’s welcome. We’re going to have about 10 countries representing Hispanic America. The whole concept is about us in this community. Every time we participate, we think of questions such as: Why are we contributing to Londoners? How can we embrace our roots through the arts and the community? What makes us proud? We can’t bring every Hispanic country here, but we’re going to share a little bit of us in this amazing city we now call home,” he adds.
According to Novoa, October is recognized as Latin American Heritage Month in Canada, and this partnership is an opportunity to celebrate in advance the heritage, culture, achievements, and contributions of Latin American and Hispanic communities across the country.
