As temperatures drop and flu season approaches, free influenza vaccines will be available to the public starting October 28.
These vaccines are designed to strengthen immune systems and help protect against the flu’s common symptoms.
XFM News spoke with Dr. Jennifer Guthrie, a Professor of Medicine and Dentistry at Western University, about the importance of getting the flu shot this year.
“Every year, the flu vaccination can prevent illness, reduce medical visits and hospitalizations, and even save lives,” Guthrie said. “It’s a crucial preventive measure, especially for those with chronic health conditions. Even if you’re healthy, getting vaccinated can protect others who might face serious outcomes if they contract the flu. The flu shot benefits both yourself and those around you.”
At the same time you will be able to get your yearly flu shot, the COVID-19 vaccine will also become available to the public.
Both vaccines will be available free of charge, meaning you wouldn’t have to spend on anything.
