The carbon rebate is here for small businesses and Canadians. The rebate is a quarterly payment to help offset the carbon tax.
One such local business getting the carbon rebate, Pizza Quest, played host to the Minister of Environment and Climate Change, Steven Guilbeault.
“About 600,000 SMEs (Small and Medium Enterprises) across the country will receive 2.5 billion dollars. We’ll share 2.5 billion dollars in return revenues from carbon pricing.
Today, the 15th, is the moment that people in Ontario will receive a quarterly payment,” says Guilbeault. “So today, July 15, is a good day for Canadians and Canadian businesses.”
Guilbeault continued to say that the carbon tax will make up 40 per cent of their goal to reduce carbon emissions by 2030.
“Carbon pricing is a fairly simple mechanism,” Guilbeault says. “You put a price on pollution. People will be more careful with the amount of pollution.”
