London city council has voted on a bylaw to recognize city manager Lynne Livingstone’s retirement on March 15.
Livingstone was literally given her flowers in Tuesday’s city council meeting, with Mayor Josh Morgan saying “her commitment to all aspects of the organization is unwavering… and she rallies people around her to perform at such a high level of excellence on behalf of city council and all Londoners”.
Before being named city manager in 2020, Livingstone had spent 3 decades in the public service, including many years as the director of neighbourhood and children’s services in London.
After receiving her bouquet of flowers from Mayor Morgan, Livingstone took to her podium and thanked the council, all city employees and reflected on her years in the public sector.
“I have been proud to serve alongside all of you,” she said.
St. Thomas city manager and the former head of housing and social services in London, Sandra Datars Bere, will be taking on Livingstone’s role on May 6.
Speaking on her successor, Livingstone says “I know you are in very good hands, particularly with Sandra joining us”.
