The Fanshawe student union elections are just around the corner. The campus community is abuzz as students are prepared to choose their next leader.
Three candidates are running for the presidential elections this year.
“I want to help students, serve students, that’s what I have been doing since I joined Fanshawe,” says Siddharth Singh one of the candidates for the Presidential elections.
“I came to Fanshawe in September 2022. As soon as I came here, I joined Red Squad and Class Rep.A volunteering team to help other students with the events and make their campus life more vibrant.
I became a digital ambassador and a peer mentor. Being involved in that, I realized that helping other students and other people makes me happy.” Says Singh.
Candidates have started their campaigns in and around the campus.
“For South Campus, I want a coffee machine from the FSU. We had a coffee machine over there but right now if you want a coffee ma, students have to go outside to White Oaks Mall,” says Singh.
“For the Downtown Campus, I want them to have some sort of entertainment like a games room.” Says Singh.
He also talked about the concerns students have regarding the meal prices.
“I want to make an affordable meal program in the OASIS. For example, let’s say the pasta of the day would be sold for an affordable price. “Singh added.
He also explained the concerns of students regarding extra charges and bus pass issues.
“There are some refund services that I want to work on. A lot of students are not using the services that we provide here at the main campus and they’re still paying a fee for it. Also, there are some bus pass issues that students are facing, especially for January intake students” Says Singh.
Elections occur next week from March 4 at 9:00 am to March 6 at noon. Voting will take place through Fanshawe online.
