London’s City Council has announced they are hiring Sandra Datars Bere as their new City Manager.
“I am deeply honored and humbled to have been chosen as the new City Manager for the City of London,” said Datars Bere.
“Returning to assume this important role in London, which is my home community, fills me with immense pride and excitement. I eagerly anticipate the opportunity to work alongside the talented team at the City of London, along with countless community leaders.”
Bere has over two decades of municipal public sector experience, including seven years with the City of London. She previously led the housing and social services portfolio from 2013 to 2020.
In 2020, she took on a role as Chief Administrative Officer for Bruce County and currently serves as City Manager for the City of St. Thomas.
“I am thrilled that Sandra has chosen to rejoin the City of London,” says Mayor Josh Morgan.
“I know that her experience and leadership will ensure that our organization and community continue to move forward towards our goals of becoming an even more vibrant, caring, and resilient city.
The hire comes following an extensive national search, which began in late 2023 when current City Manager Lynne Livingstone announced her retirement.
“Together, we will continue a journey of transformation and progress, ensuring that London remains a place where all individuals and families can thrive,” says Bere.
Livingstone will retire from her position on March 15, with Bere officially taking over the position on May 6.
