London Health Sciences Centre will hire nearly 100 positions to complete the digitization of patient records. Out of these, 68 positions are currently open.
“We are changing how healthcare is delivered across a significant portion of Southwestern Ontario and improving the quality of care for patients, which is exciting,” says Andrew Mes, the digital health executive and corporate information officer.

Health records are currently a combination of electronic and paper files. LHSC and its regional partners are launching the next phase of a multi-year project to digitize health records that will help transfer information within and between the 11 participating hospitals through the project “OneChart.”
“Once OneChart is fully implemented, for example, if a patient is transferred to LHSC from Woodstock Hospital, we would be able to access their complete record before they even arrive,” Mes says.
“A pen and a piece of paper are not enough. We need digital information so that we can use it primarily for quality patient care, but also for research, education, and system planning.”
According to a statement by LHSC, there is a significant IT component to this project, and many positions require knowledge of IT systems. There are also many positions in which clinical experience will be an asset.
“We are looking for a variety of healthcare workers, including members of a healthcare discipline or technologists; individuals with both an educational background in clinical care delivery and real-life experience, ideally in a hospital environment,” Mes explains.
