100 Kellogg Lane celebrates the brisk autumn season with Oktober Fall Fest, a haven of beer, music, and food galore. According to 100 Kellogg Lane Special Events Coordinator Emily Barnes, the event admission is free, besides their two ticketed events, David Wilcox and Practically Hip.
“This year, we have transformed the event into an Oktober Fest-inspired beer hall,” says Barnes. “It has a layout similar to a typical beel hall, with rows of tables, seats, and space to stand.”
Barnes says, “This is the spot to be right now,” as the event aims to unite people in a fun environment. She adds that this yearly event provides customers an entertaining experience highlighting and savouring flavours they can not get anywhere else in London.
“This type of event gives people something to look forward to in the fall,” Barnes says. “The turnout has been good. We had a David Wilcox concert, which sold out in hours.”
Attendee Maria Caughell says she has come with her family daily since the event launched last year.
“They always put up a good show with nice pretzels and drinks,” Caughell says. “We have a good time every day we come here. We dance, since, eat and bond with other people.”
Caughell says that because there are so many drinks and good food to choose is hard for her to pick every time.
Barnes says that Oktoberfest is a festival of Bavarian culture that showcases the customs, variety, and sense of sharing. She adds that the event will last two weeks and feature live music, creative performances, local merchants, and beer tents, accompanied by an official beer keg tapping.
“Around 7000 people have come so far to experience different artists and food options daily,” Barnes says.
She adds that they are proud to introduce Canada’s top tribute group, The Practically Hip, as they honour Gordon Downie’s incredible history and their legendary band.
“Practically Hip will be performing on the 29, which we expect to be a sold-out concert as well,” Barnes says. “We have Owen Riegling to start the night on the 30, which will be a free concert, so we expect many people.”
The Holy Gamblers, whose singular fusion of honky-tonk and modernity promises an exhilarating start to the night, will give a stunning performance to kick off the evening on the 29, right before The Practically Hip.
Barnes says people could also expect several fall photo ops and an Oktoberfest-inspired menu like beer and other beverages, including non-alcoholic ones.
“Everywhere on the 100 Kellogg Lane property, parking is free! Although if drinking, we recommend using an Uber or taxi,” Barnes says.
Barnes states this event is for 19-year-olds or older, but people can still bring their kids.
“This is a family event happening from Sept. 14 to Oct.1. Oktober Fall Fest is 19+ after 9 p.m.,” Barnes says. “We advise everyone to use the Atrium entrance on Kellogg Lane closest to Dundas Street.”
