Four members of Outlaw Motorcycle Groups and eight associates are facing 52 charges following a multi-jurisdictional drug trafficking investigation. The investigation resulted in the seizure of illicit drugs, including suspected fentanyl and cocaine, worth an estimated $33,000 on the streets, and illegal firearms.
OPP says Project DERAILLEUR began in late 2022 in response to information indicating that motorcycle gang members were trafficking drugs throughout Southern Ontario. An investigation was initiated by the Aylmer Police Service and the Biker Enforcement Unit (BEU), which is an Ontario Provincial Police (OPP)-led joint forces operation.
Through funding provided by the Ontario Government, Criminal Intelligence Service Ontario, BEU worked collaboratively with the London Police Service and the Aylmer Police Service to identify several Outlaws Motorcycle Club members who were involved with this highly orchestrated operation. The investigation was further assisted by members of the Strathroy-Caradoc Police and St. Thomas Police.
On June 27, BEU executed eleven search warrants at eight locations, including the Outlaws Motorcycle Club Clubhouse and residences in the towns of Aylmer, St. Thomas and Strathroy.
Police say the search warrants were done with support from the Aylmer Police, the St. Thomas Police and the Strathroy-Caradoc Police. The Woodstock Police Service’s Canine Unit also provided assistance, along with the Canine and Emergency Response Units of the London Police Service.
Many areas of the OPP also supported the execution of these search warrants, including the Canine Unit, the Provincial Asset Forfeiture Unit, the Elgin County Detachment, the Emergency Response Team, the Tactics and Rescue Unit and numerous Community Safety Crime Units.
As a result of the investigation, 12 people have been charged with 52 offences. This includes two members of the Outlaws Motorcycle Club, one Probationary Outlaws member and one member of the Filthy Fifteen Motorcycle Club. One of the Outlaws Motorcycle Club members was arrested on outstanding warrants, which were unrelated to this investigation.
