London is welcoming in the premiere of the Immersive Disney Animation experience.
This project, which is run and created by Lighthouse Immersive in development with Walt Disney Animation Studios, is a projection based exhibition designed for all ages that works to display the music and artistry of Disney Animation’s lineup of films.
“We’re elated to bring this production to London just in time for summer holidays,” says Corey Ross, the producer and founder of Lighthouse Immersive Studios.
The exhibit was brought to life by the Mexico-based company Cocolab who worked with Academy award winning producer, J. Miles Dale, as well as the Creative Legacy team at Walt Disney Animation Studios to develop the program for Lighthouse Immersive Studios.
“Using the new technology that the immersive experience offers is exciting,” says producer J. Miles Dale.
“But it’s important that it not interfere with the emotional investment that Disney fans have in the characters and storylines that audiences have come to cherish.”
The exhibit features various forms of immersive media and technology including responsive floor projections, custom bracelets that light up in sync with the projections and movements, as well as a bubble-based portion where the special effects team fills the gallery with bubbles.
Dale goes on to talk about the approach that he and his team went into the project with, as well as what he hopes families are able to take away from the experience.
“Most of our guests have seen these films multiple times, but they tell me that they feel as though they are seeing them in an entirely new way, and that was always our goal.”
This will be the second exhibit opened up in Canada with the first location being based in Toronto, on top of other 13 locations across the U.S.
“While we expected a positive reception, we have really been blown away by just how incredibly excited audiences are with this experience, a testament to the timeless legacy of Disney Animation’s worlds, stories and characters,” says Ross.
Ross continued to talk about the passion project that these exhibitions have become not just for himself, but for the rest of the team as well. He shared that both families as well as the people developing the experience itself have a deep connection to Disney’s source material, with that feeling being at the core of their work.
“Like so many of us, I have a life-long love of Disney films,” says Ross.
“And it has been quite a nostalgic rush seeing those films come to life in our venues across North America. I’ve grown up with these characters and worlds since childhood and so has my family. The work lends itself brilliantly to the immersive experience. Our team has created something truly special here.”
The exhibition is now open at 100 Kellogg Lane with more information and tickets able to be found at www.lighthouseimmersive.com/disney.
