A cocktail-making competition run by Fanshawe’s Event Planning Students happened on Wednesday and was a huge success. An event that had been in the works since the beginning of the year finally happened and the outcome exceeded expectations.
“We wanted to choose something that London hasn’t really done before, so this was the first event of its kind,” said Jocie Breton one of the Special Event Planning students
Five local Bartenders were selected to participate in the competition from different establishments who had the task to create their own cocktails with just one ingredient in common, paradigm’s gin. “Each participant had 15 minutes to prepare their drinks and we specified that they could only use 4 ingredients and one garnish to make it more of a challenge,” added Breton.
The competition took place at 100 Kellogg Pl and the student’s goal of 200 attendees was achieved successfully. “When I heard of this event it was something I had never heard of before, and standing in the room and seeing it all happen, definitely exceeded my expectations, it was really great,” said Savannah one of the attendees
At the event, there was also live music, light snacks, lots of alcohol and dances too. “I’m glad that people had a good time and were impressed with how the night went. I hope to be able to do an event like this yearly in the future,” said Luka the host of the event
Not only did the event reach its goal of attendees but it also raised just over 1,800 dollars, all of which were given to charity.
