B.Davison Secondary School has been the subject of talk by the TVDSB as the school on Trafalgar Street is looking to be repurposed after being discussed that the school will be closed.
With the news of the schools repurposing the community around B.Davison as well as support from former students have been incredible.
Ocean Pengelly is a graduate of B.Davison who has close ties with the school and area and says that it makes sense that the school should be at the very least repurposed because of the decline in enrollment at the school which is now down to a mere 40 students with no classes running from grades 9 through 10, should be used as a community center or some variation of a public space.
While she has these thoughts on the repurpose Ocean gets emotional while reflecting on her four year at the school. “It was like a family there I began to learn who I was and the teachers and support staff always put the students best interest first”. As she reflected, the emotion of losing a piece of her life overwhelmed her and really drove home what many in the area must have also felt enough that parents and current students were garnering support to keep the school open.
The TVDSB has stated that the school will not close completely however the repurpose is more than likely to happen as the year goes on.
