October, the month in which we give extra thought to the diversity of our London society during ‘Islamic Heritage Month’. As part of this, the London & Middlesex Local Immigration Partnership organized a meeting at the London Public Library. Several guest speakers were present to share their stories or showcase their contributions.

Huda Hussein, project coordinator of the London & Middlesex Local Immigration Partnership
The whole idea behind this month and the events that are organized, is that people get to know each other and learn to live together. Huda Hussein, project coordinator of the London & Middlesex Local Immigration Partnership explains why ‘Islamic Heritage Month’ is so important.
If there is anything that we learned from the attack on ‘The London family’, it is that we need to try and do better!

The Guest speakers included Rumina Morris, Director of the City of London’s Anti-Racism and Anti-Oppression Division. She sees this month as an opportunity to tell people’s stories, as she finds that people are increasingly more aware of the seriousness of the problem, though for many others it still remains something too far from themselves.
During the month of October, many other events will be held by various organizations in- and outside of London. More information about these events can be found on their websites or on their social media.
