An early morning shooting in East London on Wednesday has resulted in two people facing charges after they were caught in possession of a shotgun and narcotics.
The seized items included a loaded shotgun, one gram of suspected fentanyl valued at $60 and 100mg of morphine, also valued at $60.
Police responded to a call on Flanders Row where they found one man with gunshot wounds. He was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Roughly 16 hours after the initial reports, police said that they received reports of a break and enter in progress at the same Flanders Row address.
The two suspects have been charged with two counts of weapon prohibition, carelessly storing a firearm, and one count of possessing a restricted firearm.
They also have been charged with one count each of possessing a loaded/unloaded regulated firearm and possessing a firearm knowing the serial number has been tampered with.
Police reported that individually, one of the suspects is facing two counts of possessing a Schedule I substance and one count of breaching prohibition, while the other suspect is facing one count of possessing a firearm or ammunition contrary to a prohibition order.
The suspects are scheduled to appear in court on Thursday.
