London police have arrested a Greater Toronto Area man in connection to the unsolved killing of Lynda Marques late last year.
Marques was killed in the driveway of her home in North London on September 10, 2021. Two shooters approached her while she was still in her car and opened fire before escaping in a stolen black Volkswagen Jetta.
The attack was captured on surveillance.
At a news conference Wednesday, Acting Detective Inspector Alex Krygsman announced that 18-year-old Ammar Patel has been charged with first-degree murder in relation to the killing.
Patel has been in custody since November 17, 2021, in the GTA on unrelated charges that doesn’t involve the London Police Service.
Police believe that there are several more suspects involved in this killing and that some are also from the Greater Toronto Area.
“It’s important for us to share with the public that we’re moving this investigation forward, that we’re making progress with this investigation,” says Krygsman. “We’re aware that the people involved in Lynda’s murder travelled to London from the Toronto area on September 9 and left the city immediately after Lynda’s murder.”
Thanks to the skill, perseverance and dedication of investigators a 1st degree murder charge has been laid in this matter. Still seeking information from the public to further this investigation #notdoneyet. https://t.co/yikobZQnem

Krygsman urges the public to come forward with any information, no matter how insignificant, to help in the investigation.
