Halloween is just around the corner! Sunday, October 31st is Halloween. Little children dress up as monsters, vampires, fairies and other creative characters and go door to door tick-or-treating. Many neighborhoods decorate their homes all spooky and scary for when it’s Halloween night. This fun and light hearted tradition has been happening for many centuries now.
How should you celebrate Halloween safely this year? We’ve been living through a global pandemic for the last two years, which have put a stop on many things. Last year, Covid-19 was at it’s peak, making it very difficult for children to celebrate Halloween. With things calming down this year and the world opening back up, we can celebrate Halloween proper, safely.
Amber Ford is the mother of 10 year old Grace, and Amber explains what precaution she and Grace will take this Halloween.
“This year, Grace and I are going out with family and friends and for precautions we are staying 6 feet apart and checking our candies afterwards. Making sure the night goes really well and keeping an eye on the kids.”
Grace Ford mentions that she will be wearing a mask with her costume, which is a scary clown.
According to the London Police websites, here are some costume safety tips.
- Make sure your costumes fit properly, reducing the chance of tripping.
- Make sure your vision is not distracted by the mask.
- Make sure other people can see your costume, wear light colours or reflective tape.
- Wear comfortable shoes.
- Wear glow sticks and bracelets to see better in the dark.
Of course with Covid-19, make sure to keep your distance. 6 feet apart from people that are not family or friends. Make sure to always have a mask with you and use hand sanitizer.
Before you get the night started, remember to walk don’t run. Stay on safe grounds, and check both sides of the street before walking.
If you follow all these steps you should have a safe and spooky Halloween this year.
Happy Halloween!
