Despite the scramble to get polling stations together resulting in less overall stations, voters are reporting wait times shorter than expected.
A polling station at Good News Church on Clark Road had a wait time of around 10 minutes to get into the building at 1:30, and around another 10 minutes to register and vote.
When a worker was asked, they told XFM that the line was the longest they had seen that day, with the other busy time being the morning as the polls opened. The worker also theorized that the dinner rush would be another busy time, as people rushed to get their votes.
Another surprising find was the distance most voters had to travel.
One voter in the London-Fanshawe riding, Cordell Foster, said that “It was about a 10 minute walk from my house, not bad at all.”
Other voters also relayed the same thing of short drives and short walks to their closest polling stations.
As for feelings towards the pandemic election, first-time voter, Shay Imbroll, hopes it’s used for actual change.
“It just doesn’t feel like there’s any reason to [call an election], besides a change of power.” She said, in the lobby of the polling station.
“As much as I liked voting for the first time, I want it to be worth something, I want the election to be for the good of Canada, not just for bragging rights.”
