In comparison to NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh’s stop in London, Conservative Leader Erin O’Toole’s stop was a much more low-key affair.
O’Toole spoke to members of the press about his campaign and emphasized Trudeau’s recklessness calling an election in this pandemic.
“Mr. Trudeau said it’s not proper to hold a pandemic election,” He said. “Then he launches one for his own interests. So we need a government that’s ethical, focused and that will always put the interests of Canadians first. The only option to vote for that change is Canada’s Conservatives.”
Another big emphasis was the cost of the election, $600 million.
O’Toole also repeated the remark that the “Big Two” parties have, that being while there may be five parties in the race, there’s really only two choices, “More of the same with Justin Trudeau or Canada’s conservatives.”
The Conservative party leader declined to comment any further on the other parties, stating he “did not want to advertise them.”
When asked about his future pandemic response, O’Toole was quick to criticize the Liberal Leader, stating ” He was slow at the border in the countries you mentioned. He was slow to deploy a national system of rapid screening and testing something we’ve been demanding for 18 months for our land border.”
“We need to have the tools, vaccines, rapid tests, and working together in this pandemic. I’ve said that those three tools including information are what we need to get to Canadians to get to work together to fight COVID-19.”
O’Toole said that he and the Conservatives were offering Canada a better future and a united country, where people can be Proud to be Canadian.
“Mr. Trudeau called the election, but I’m asking Canadians to finish it, and vote for change.”
