With election day quickly approaching, some out of town college students are confused on how the voting process applies to them.
Students say they were not informed of how they would be able to vote, with some even stating they only found out about a federal election through social media.
Carley Mulligan, an interior design student at Fanshawe, believes the college should have done a better job at informing students of their rights to vote.
“I’m sure that most out of town students like wouldn’t have any idea like how they can vote or like where they can vote.” She said.
“I think that like the college is like a very good resource for most things. So them encouraging students to go in, like, have their voice heard and vote by giving them the information they need to vote is really important, in my opinion.”
Out of town students can vote this upcoming Monday at one of their riding’s polling stations.
They’ll need to bring their student ID and some other form of identification that includes their current address and legal name such as a residential lease, income tax assessment, or a letter of confirmation of residence
Students living on campus fall under the London-Fanshawe riding, their candidates being Lindsay Mathyssen (NDP), Mohammed Hammoud (Liberal), Mattias Vanderley (Conservative), and Kyle Free (PPC).
